Apple's iPhone shipments fell 10 percent in the first quarter of 2024, losing ground as the wider smartphone industry recovers, according to market tracking organization IDC.
The global mobile market rose to 289.4 million shipped devices, representing a 7.8 percent increase from a year ago. Samsung Electronics regained first place. Shipments of the budget-focused Transsion brand jumped 85 percent, while Xiaomi rebounded to close the gap with second-placed Apple.
